Fraser Alexander donates Science Laboratory Equipment to Aggeneys International Academy

Fraser Alexander donated school laboratory equipment valued at over R 77 000.00 to Aggeneys International Academy (AIA) on 12 February 2019. The school is situated in Aggeneys, a town adjacent to the Fraser Alexander Tailings Operations at Vedanta Zinc International's Gamsberg mine and plantin the Northern Cape. Fraser Alexander has been operating in the Northern Cape since 2001 and has since established meaningful relationships with many stakeholders including local communities and local government in the Province.

"This donation marks the beginning of a long journey of working together to improve the standards of living in the communities around our operations including at Gamsberg and in other neighbouring communities. Special thanks to our business partner, Vedanta Zinc International for assisting us in making this donation possible." said Enock Ramoabi, Fraser Alexander Tailings SA General Manager.

"We cannot thank Fraser Alexander enough, the school was in need of this equipment and for Fraser Alexander to think of us in this part of the Northern Cape is really an honour. Our learners will gain immense knowledge with this equipment. Before, everything was learned using a book due to budget constraints, but now they will practically learn from these. Thank you Fraser Alexander!" said Myrna Thomas, the school principal.

The school was also very fortunate to have Mr. Kwezi Mhlom, the Chief Education Specialist responsible for Independent schools, from Northern Cape Department of Education present at the handover. He gave a heart-warming impromptu speech in which he encouraged the learners to take every advantage of this donation, and of the education they were afforded at AIA. He thanked Fraser Alexander for their generosity and praised their foresight in supporting rural communities and rural schools.
